Earthly

Out my window

This photo is part of the Lenten Photo-A-Day Challenge.

This is my EARTHLY view most days. Green grass, towering trees, gentle rain. For someone who lived too long in the heat and dry of deserts, this is closer to heaven than EARTH.

The lectionary passage that spoke especially to me today was from Psalm 102:25

25  Long ago you laid the foundation of the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands.

Hear

Bethany Presbyterian Church (2)

The lectionary today is replete with examples of HEAR. This is the church where I currently HEAR the word of God. I am confident that God HEARs me, as well.

The lectionary passage that spoke especially to me today was from Psalm 27:7-8

7   Hear, O LORD, when I cry aloud,
be gracious to me and answer me!

8   “Come,” my heart says, “seek his face!”
Your face, LORD, do I seek.

My granddaughter didn’t feel well and was appreciative of my COVER that I knit several years ago. It’s soft and warm, and just the thing when you’re sick.

The lectionary passage that spoke especially to me today was from Psalm 6:8b-9

8             …for the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping.

9   The LORD has heard my supplication; the LORD accepts my prayer.

Vision

Do you have the VISION to see the mountain even when it isn’t visible?

The lectionary passage that spoke especially to me today was from 1 Corinthians 3:18b-19a

18…If you think that you are wise in this age, you should become fools so that you may become wise. 19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.

The prompt today is LIVE.

The lectionary passage that spoke especially to me today was from Psalm 43:3-4

3   O send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling.
4   Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy; and I will praise you with the harp, O God, my God.

Those of you who know me, or have followed this blog for a while, know that the Holy SPIRIT is the person of the Godhead that I identify with most closely. Here are a couple of posts about Her appearance in my life. Spirit of the Living God and Jessica – A Fable

The lectionary passage that spoke especially to me today was from John 3:34b

34  for he gives the Spirit without measure.

These are my grandparents. When I think of LOVE, they are the first ones I think of. They loved each other, they loved their family, they loved their church, they loved their world, they loved God – best of all they loved ME!

The lectionary passage that spoke especially to me today was from John 3:16

16“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.

Evil

This is one of the EVILs of our time, leading to all kinds of war, pestilence, famine, and death. Sorry to be so political during Lent, but it seems to me the hubris of politics is one of the places EVIL resides in our time. (If you haven’t seen it already, please watch Rachel Maddow’s review of the book.)

The lectionary passage that spoke especially to me today was from Hebrews 3:12-13

12Take care, brothers and sisters, that none of you may have an evil, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” so that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
