Truth – #rethinkchurch

(Once again I’m following ReThinkChurch’s prompts for a photo-a-day during Lent.)

3-25 - Truth

There’s a dark underbelly to the history of Tacoma, including the mistreatment and expulsion of the Chinese in the late 1880s. They were driven out of town and put on open train cars in the pouring rain. Many died on the trip to either Seattle or Portland. This history is as much TRUTH, as the beautiful views of Mt Rainier, the tranquil waterfront on Puget Sound, and the exquisite flowers and gardens that I celebrate usually on this site. The only way to live with this TRUTH is to remember it, confess it, and try to live our lives so that we make amends.
