#NYTWellChallenge – 2/17

Today we’re working on REFRESH.

The New York Times Wellness Challenge is do a 4-minute mindfulness exercise. I used to practice 15 minutes of mindfulness meditation every morning, but I have gotten out of the habit since the election in 2016. I know I shouldn’t have allowed the political situation to consume me so, but I was unable to sit still or just breathe for any length of time. And once I quit doing it regularly, I lost the trick of it.

This morning I sat quietly, breathing, and clearing my mind for the four minutes of the exercise, even though I got fidgety about the 3 1/2 minute mark. I’ve definitely felt better for it today, and will bookmark that page to practice every morning.
