Five things that made me happy today – 9/8/19

Today is the day for colonoscopy prep. šŸ˜¦ Let’s see if I can find 5 things to be happy about.

1. There’s was a big (for the PNW, not so much for those of us from the South) thunder storm last night that knocked out the cable and internet at our house. It was still out when I went to church, but it was back on when I got home. All is well for the football games this afternoon.

2. Breakfast was a large glass of apple juice. Lunch was 16 oz of pho broth (just the broth, no noodles or veggies). It was very tasty. Afternoon snack is sugar-free lime jello.

3. Went to church this morning. The sermon was from Luke 14:25-33. The preacher reminded us that, while Jesus sounds harsh, saying we should hate everyone else, and everything else, he is teaching us that letting go of “stuff”, and stopping “clinging” to our families is very freeing. Maybe what he’s really saying is we need to let go of the illusion that we are in control – of our lives, of our families’ lives, and of our stuff.

4. Because the cable is back, I can spend the afternoon binging onĀ The Gilmore GirlsĀ when there’s no football I want to watch.

5. By this time tomorrow, the colonoscopy will be over, and I can eat again!

I found 5 things, so I’m going to quit now, before the nasty part of my day starts.

How about you? What made you happy today?
