Five things that made me happy today – 3/17/20

In the stillness of the quiet, if we listen, we can hear the whisper of the heart giving strength to weakness, courage to fear, hope to despair.

2. File this under “the best laid plans”. I carefully made a grocery order to my local Safeway last Friday and scheduled to pick it up this morning. When I got there, they couldn’t find it in the computer. I ended up going inside and getting the things I had ordered. Then I used the self-checkout to minimize the time I spent near other people. As I finished sacking my groceries, the store manager came up, apologized and said they found it in the computer filed under my email address. SIGH. I came home, washed my hands and disinfected the steering wheel and doors of the car.

3. Today the housekeepers came and I have clean floors, clean sheets on the beds, clean kitchen and clean bathrooms. I made sure they also wiped off the door handles.

4. I ordered lunch from the dining room again today. Big Al had his regular Tuesday chef salad (and he’s a happy camper). We both had potato leek soup, and I had corned beef, buttered potatoes, and steamed cabbage (in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.) There was Bailey’s Cheesecake for dessert!

5. I walked around campus this afternoon and finished my 10,000 steps on the NuStep in the Wellness Center.

BONUS: Looking forward to watching The Quiet Man on TCM this evening.

How about you? What made you happy today?
