Five things that made me happy today – 10/17/21

The Bible isn’t a book about how to get into heaven; it’s a library of poems and letters and stories about bringing heaven to earth now.

1. Mid 50s and gloomy this morning when I woke up. The temperature may have risen to 58 earlier today but I didn’t actually see it reported. Now the temperature has fallen to the low 50s and the warmer weather has run its course.

2. We had a guest preacher – the Executive Director of Peace Community Center. Peace has been one of our missions at Bethany for many years. They focus on kids who are at risk academically. The preacher this morning was a graduate of Peace when she was in high school. The sermon was on the three parables in Luke 15.

3. We went to Pomodoro’s for lunch today. I had clam linguini and Big Al had lasagna. We also each had soup – clam chowder for me and minestrone for Al.

4. Surprisingly the Cowboys were on TV here, probably because they were playing the Patriots. They won in overtime – 35-29! That’s two teams I’ve pulled through this weekend!

5. Our ballots came in the mail yesterday, so we filled them out this morning, and dropped them off while we were out for lunch.

How about you? What made you happy today?
