Five things that made me happy today – 12/19/21

In the midst of gathering darkness, light becomes more evident.

1. It was in the mid 30s and the streets were wet this morning. The sun was out almost all day, and the temperature got up to 44 deg.

2. A young buck (probably a 2-year old) with his first set of horns strolled through the back yard this morning. It looked like he didn’t know what to do with himself because he was alone. His horns were obviously itchy because he had rubbed the velvet off of the tips, and he looked pretty unhappy. I think he’s the one that has been hanging around with his twin (doe) and a yearling. It’s hard when you’re a deer whose male relatives won’t have anything to do with you at “that time” of the year.

3. In church we heard Mary’s story from Luke 1. We also got to sing The Canticle of the Turning, one of my favorite newer hymns/carols.

4. We went to Moctezumas for lunch today. We both had chimichangas – “Del Mar” for me and ground beef for Big Al.

5. The NFL gods smiled on both of us today (although we didn’t get to watch either of the games). The Cowboys beat the Giants, making me happy, and the Steelers beat the Titans, making Al happy.

How about you? What made you happy today?
