Five things that made me happy today – 11/5/22

Please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, “If this isn’t nice, I don’t know what is.”

1. 43 degs and windy when I got up this morning. The wind blew all day, and even with the sunshine the high was only 48 deg. this afternoon.

2. Wellness Center right after breakfast to get my steps for the day. It’s not nice weather to walk outside, so I’m glad I have that space available.

3. Oregon played Colorado at 12:30 today. They did very well and virtually destroyed the Buffalos – 49-10.

4. I fixed Wick Fowler Chili for lunch before the game started. I had a bowlful at half-time and Al enjoyed a bowlful without having to wait after the game was over.

5. More football the rest of the afternoon and evening. I’m keeping an eye on Alabama v LSU, USC v California. Tennessee lost to Georgia – that leaves space at the top.

How about you? What made you happy today?

30 Days of Thankfulness – 11/5/22

For the month of November, I’m going to continue with my habit of posting things I am thankful for. Thankfulness is different from happiness, and I don’t want to conflate the two.

“Remember, remember, the Fifth of November”

Today is celebrated in England as the time, in 1606, when the Gunpowder Plot to overthrow the government was foiled. Towns and villages have big bonfires, and burn effigies of Guy Fawkes. I’m grateful to have lived in England for six years, and to have seen that other countries have historical traditions just as we do.
