Five things that made me happy today – 11/15/22

As we build bridges and even become bridges, we will be doing a service to the world.

John A. Powell

1. Beautiful clear sunrise as I was getting up – 35 deg. Sunshine all day with a high of 51 deg.

2. In Bible study this morning we looked at Jeremiah 23:1-6. That’s the passage that promises the coming of a good shepherd. We had a lot of different takes on it, but I’m not sure I want to be called a sheep – and I for sure know I’m not a shepherd.

3. I had lunch at the Bistro – tuna salad on wheat and a peanut butter cookie.

4. HCR was really late, today, but I think I caught most of it.

5. Greisser Girls Gab this afternoon. We’ll see how it goes.

How about you? What made you happy today?

30 Days of Thankfulness – 11/15/22

For the month of November, I’m going to continue with my habit of posting things I am thankful for. Thankfulness is different from happiness, and I don’t want to conflate the two.

Today I’m thankful for Social Security and Medicare. I might have chafed occasionally through the years at the 7.25% that came out of every paycheck, but now, in my old age, it helps to keep Big Al and me in the manner to which we have become accustomed. It’s not enough to live on, but it makes our savings and military retirement enough to enjoy our age. On this day when the eagle flies again (an old military term for payday) I give thanks for those lovely deposits in our savings and checking accounts.
