Five things that made me happy today – 1/7/23

How many times have you noticed that it’s the little quiet moments in the midst of life that seem to give the rest extra-special meaning?

Fred Rogers

1. It was 44 deg and raining early this morning when I got up. Now, with drizzling skies, it seems to have reached the high for the day of 47 deg.

2. I rarely recommend things that you can find on Facebook, but this is a really good piece by Anne Lamott. It’s long, but I think it’s well worth your while. (It made me think and made me happy all at the same time.)

3. Several of you, gentle readers, have reached out to me after seeing my Intentions for 2023. Thank you so much. I’m fine, really. I’m just drifting – not rudderless, but floating with the tide. It’s a great place to be, with nothing that MUST be done, or finished, or accomplished.

4. I opened a can of Campbell’s Healthy Request Mexican-Style Tortilla Soup for my lunch and garnished it with chopped avocado that I ordered from Safeway last week. It was warm on this cold, rainy day. And that’s about the best I can say about it.

5. I got a couple of recipes from one of the sisters – one for white bean chicken chili and one for Mexican casserole. I’ll definitely be trying them out on my new “heart healthy” diet.

How about you? What made you happy today?
