30 Days of Thankfulness – 11/4/21

Today I’m thankful for scientists who, against all odds, have created a vaccine to help combat this pandemic. I’m thankful for their knowledge and creativeness. This time last year, I feared we would be locked down and isolating for many months to come. I’m thankful that the vaccines seem to be working to bring this horrible disease under control.

30 Days of Thankfulness – 11/3/21

Today I’m thankful for the people working hard to combat climate change. Scientific reports say that the world doesn’t have much more time before the oceans and climate will change irreversibly. I’m also thankful that we’re beginning to look at ways to adapt. It probably won’t affect me too badly, but I worry about the grandchildren. It’s a beautiful world and I’d like to leave it the same way for future generations.

30 Days of Thankfulness – 11/2/21

For the month of November, I’m going to continue with my habit of posting things I am thankful for. Thankfulness is different from happiness, and I don’t want to conflate the two.

Today is Ray and Kathy’s 8th Anniversary. They’ve survived a lot of troubles in these years, but it seems to have made them stronger.

Happy Anniversary, Ray and Kathy. May you continue to enjoy each other, and live long in your marriage.

Today is Ray and Kathy’s 7th Anniversary. They’ve survived a lot of troubles in these years, but it seems to have made them stronger.

Happy Anniversary, Ray and Kathy. May you continue to enjoy each other, and live long in your marriage.

30 Days of Thankfulness – 11/21/17

For the month of November, I’m going to try to include gratitude in all my posts (and post every day.)

Today I’m making raw cranberry salad, even though we won’t be here for Thanksgiving Day. This is a recipe that tastes like my grandmother, and mother, and all the years in the past. I’m so thankful for my memories.

If you want the recipe, go here.

30 Days of Thankfulness – 11/15/17

For the month of November, I’m going to try to include gratitude in all my posts (and post every day.)

Today I’m thankful for Social Security and Medicare. I might have chafed occasionally through the years at the 7.25% that came out of every paycheck, but now, in my old age, it helps to keep Big Al and me in the manner to which we have become accustomed. It’s not enough to live on, but it makes our savings and military retirement enough to enjoy our age.

Today, as the Eagle flies again (an old Air Force expression for pay-day), I give thanks for those lovely deposits in our savings and checking accounts.

30 Days of Thankfulness – 11/14/17

For the month of November, I’m going to try to include gratitude in all my posts (and post every day.)

Today I’m thankful for my siblings. It’s always lovely to talk to them on the phone. I’m sorry we don’t live closer, but when we’re together, the years fall away and we enjoy each other. It’s restful to be able to talk without explaining the subtext of everything I say. We are about as different in political thought, religious beliefs, and daily activities as it’s possible to be, but we get along when we’re together. I love them all.
